Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 9, 2026. This policy applies from that date to everyone who visits newswibe.com.

1. The short version

We collect the minimum we need to run a news site and answer your messages. We do not sell personal information. We do not make you register to read. This page is the long version, and it governs.

2. Who is responsible

NewsWibe (“NewsWibe”, “we”, “us”) is a digital news publication in the 24World Media network, published from 1411 N Sterling Ave, Palatine, IL 60067, United States. This Privacy Policy covers newswibe.com (the “Site”) and messages sent through it. Other websites — including those we link to — run their own policies.

3. Information we collect

3.1 Information you send us

The contact form collects your name, email address, topic, subject and message, plus the page you sent it from. The message sits in our newsroom system until the desk has dealt with it and for a record period afterwards. If you subscribe to a newsletter or alerts where offered, we store the address and your confirmation. Organisations that buy our services give us the business contacts the engagement needs.

3.2 Information your visit generates

Servers log every page request: the address, time, IP address, browser and device type, the page you came from and the response returned. Our hosting, security and delivery providers process the same records to serve and protect the Site. Readership measurement is aggregated — we count readers of stories, we do not maintain behavioural dossiers on named individuals.

3.3 Cookies

  • Essential cookies keep the Site secure, balanced across servers and functioning; they cannot be switched off without breaking pages.
  • Preference cookies remember choices you make on the Site, such as dismissing a banner.
  • Advertising and measurement cookies may be set by advertising partners to deliver, frequency-cap and measure campaigns, handled under their own published policies and section 8 below.

Your browser can block or clear cookies at any time. Refusing advertising cookies will not remove ads; it may make them blunter.

3.4 Information we never ask for

No card numbers are taken on this Site. We do not request government identifiers, health details or precise location, and we do not knowingly collect data from children under 13 — tell us through the Contact page if you believe we hold any, and we will remove it.

4. Why we hold it

Each category above exists for a stated job: delivering and securing the Site; reading, routing and answering correspondence, corrections and legal notices; sending subscriptions you asked for; counting readership in aggregate; serving and measuring advertising; administering paid engagements; and meeting duties the law imposes, including protecting readers, the publication and the public from harm.

5. Legal bases

Where applicable law requires a basis for processing, we rely on consent for subscriptions and non-essential cookies (withdrawable at any time), contract for paid engagements, legitimate interests in running and defending a news publication, and legal obligation where a rule compels us. Where a local law gives you stronger protections than this document, that law wins.

6. Sharing

Personal information is shared only with: service providers who host, secure, deliver, measure or monetise the Site on our instructions or their own published terms; sister desks inside the 24World Media network where your message or engagement belongs to them or to the network standards function; authorities and courts where the law requires it or where needed to protect people, property and rights or to bring and defend claims; and a successor operator if the publication changes hands, under this policy, with notice posted here.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not swap mailing lists with third parties.

7. Retention

Contact messages are kept while the matter is handled and for a record period afterwards, ordinarily no more than twenty-four months unless they become part of a legal or standards file. Subscription addresses live until unsubscribe or persistent delivery failure. Server and security logs roll over on our providers’ short cycles. Financial and engagement records are kept for the periods tax and accounting law requires.

8. Advertising technology

Third-party advertising partners may process visit data under their own policies, linked from their notices where provided. You can limit interest-based advertising with browser controls and the regional industry opt-out tools available to you. We do not control partner practices beyond the contracts we choose to sign; if a partner misbehaves, the remedy includes dropping the partner.

9. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may be entitled to see the personal information we hold on you, receive a copy, fix errors, have it deleted, restrict or object to particular uses, withdraw consent and, in some places, move your data. California-style regimes add rights to know categories shared and to opt out of any local definition of “sale” or “sharing” — we sell nothing, as stated. Exercise any right through the Contact page with “Privacy” in the subject line, identifying the information involved. We may verify identity first; we answer inside the statutory period and explain, with the legal reason, anything we cannot do. You may also complain to your data protection authority.

10. Transfers and security

Processing happens principally in the United States and in the locations of our providers; safeguards required by applicable law are applied to international transfers. Using the Site from abroad means your information is processed in the United States, whose laws may differ from yours. The Site runs over HTTPS with access controls and security monitoring applied to stored messages. No method is invulnerable; where a breach touches personal information, we act and notify as required. Never send credentials, card data or highly sensitive documents via the contact form.

11. Changes

This policy will change as the Site and the law do. The date at the top moves with each revision, and significant changes are flagged on the Site. Continuing to use the Site after a revision means the revised policy applies to you.

12. Reaching us

Privacy questions and requests: the Contact page, “Privacy” in the subject line. By post: 1411 N Sterling Ave, Palatine, IL 60067, United States.

13. Privacy contact and escalation

Privacy mail is owned by the publisher’s office. Send it through the Contact page with “Privacy” in the subject line; the arrival date is logged and starts the clock the law gives us. If our answer refuses part of your request and your jurisdiction gives you an appeal, reply on the same route marked “Privacy appeal”: a person outside the original decision reviews it and gives written reasons. You may also take the matter to your local data protection authority at any point — you do not need our permission, and doing so will not affect how we treat you.

14. What the schedule looks like

  • Contact messages — handled by the desk, retained for records and standards review for up to twenty-four months.
  • Subscriptions — the address lives on the list until you leave it or delivery fails permanently.
  • Server and security logs — short rolling windows set by our hosting and security providers, read for operations and incidents, not for reader profiling.
  • Business records — engagements, invoices and correspondence kept for the years tax and accounting law demands.
  • Corrections and standards files — kept with the item they belong to, as the publication’s accountability record.

15. Automated decisions

No decision about an individual reader is made by automated means alone with legal or similarly significant effect. Software helps filter spam in form submissions, spot attacks and count readers in aggregate; any of those outcomes can be reviewed by a human on request through the Contact page.

16. Signals your browser sends

The Site does not respond to the legacy “Do Not Track” header, which never acquired an agreed meaning. Where your browser or device transmits a recognised global privacy control that applicable law obliges us to treat as an opt-out, we honour it for the advertising purposes described in section 8.

17. Employees, applicants and contributors

Information supplied by job applicants, freelancers and contributors is used to assess, engage, pay and correspond with them, and is held under the same security controls as reader information. It is not used for reader marketing and is not shared beyond those who administer the engagement and the law.

18. A note on embedded media

Pages may embed video and media hosted by third parties, including official channels. Pressing play — and in some configurations, loading the page — lets that provider see your IP address and set its own cookies under its own policy. Where a privacy-enhanced embed mode exists, we use it; the provider’s policy governs the rest, and links in section 3.2’s spirit apply: read theirs before you press play, if that matters to you.

19. When the law comes asking

If a court order, warrant or lawful demand requires us to produce information, we produce what the law compels — no more. Where we are free to tell an affected person that a demand has been made, we do. Confidential journalistic material gets the strongest protection the applicable law allows, and demands touching it are reviewed by the standards function before anything is handed over. Aggregate transparency about demands is published where the law permits us to publish it.

20. Cookies in plain detail

The essential set exists so pages load securely and notices you dismiss stay dismissed; those items hold no advertising value and are not used to profile you. Preference items remember choices you made here, on this device only. Partner items belong to the advertising supply chain described in section 8 and expire on the cycles those partners publish. Clearing your browser storage removes all three kinds; the Site will simply set the essential ones again on your next visit, because without them it cannot serve you a page.
