Former Indian cricketer Wasim Jaffer took a brutal dig at Kevin Pietersen for his contrasting tweets related to the first India vs England Test. The first match of the five-Test series between the teams is taking place at the Uppal Stadium in Hyderabad.
The Test between India and England has been nothing short of exceptional so far on Day 1. The game has moved quickly and both the teams have had their moments but currently, it’s the Rohit Sharma-led side, who are at the top.
England won the toss and opted to bat first. They were off the flyer as Ben Duckett (35) and Zack Crawley (20) batted aggressively at the top. They added 55 runs for the opening partnership and for a bit it seemed that Bazball would work in Indian conditions.
But the introduction of the spin changed things drastically for England. From being 55/0 they were reduced to 60/3. After the visitors had a solid opening partnership, Kevin Pietersen seized in an opportunity to praise his team.
Kevin Pietersen said that England will post 450 runs and then declare. Taking to his Twitter account, he stated: “England bat. 450/9 declared today?”

But after Kevin Pietersen’s tweet, England lost wickets in clusters and couldn’t tackle the spin. The likes of Ravichandran Ashwin, Axar Patel, and Ravindra Jadeja were all over the batters and made them look clueless with their variations.
Watching the visitors’ poor show, Kevin Pietersen was baffled and an hour after his earlier tweet, he posted another tweet. He expressed his frustration and said that the game might be over in two days.
He tweeted: “Bloody hell!!!! Might be a two-day game!”

As Kevin Pietersen posted contrasting tweets within one hour, former Indian cricketer Wasim Jaffer didn’t go easy on him. He seized in an opportunity to troll the former England batter for the kind of show Ben Stokes-led side put in.
The Ranji Trophy legend highlighted his tweets and posted a funny meme, saying that Dinesh Karthik will explain his dig to Kevin Pietersen. Taking to a Twitter account, he stated: “@DineshKarthik will translate this one for you @KP24”

Coming to the match, after England was left tottering at 60/3, Jonny Bairstow (37) and Joe Root (29) bailed the team out of trouble with their fifty-plus partnership. But spinners made sure that they got into the game again. After that team lost wickets quickly and was reduced to 193/8, with spinners wreaking havoc across the batter.
Skipper Ben Stokes (30*) is keeping England in the game and has looked good. He would be hoping to play long innings and take his team to a competitive total. The batter would have more than 250 runs on target. The pitch too hasn’t been easy to bat and therefore anything over 250 will be a good first-innings total. At Tea on Day 1, the visitors were 215/8. For India, Ravindra Jadeja has picked three wickets whereas Ashwin and Axar have two each along with Bumrah, who has one.
