Virat Kohli’s dismissal of Harshit Rana’s bouncer triggered a bit of controversy during the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) versus Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) IPL 2024 match at Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Sunday, April 21.

Kohli kicked off Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s (RCB) chase of 223 runs with two big sixes, and he went on to score 18 off seven deliveries before Harshit Rana dismissed him with a slower delivery. Harshit’s unexpected slow full-toss caught the right-hander off guard as he attempted to defend it.

Rana managed to cleanly complete the catch, prompting widespread speculation. Even in the commentary box, many, including Kohli, thought it might have been a no-ball. After the umpires reviewed the delivery, the third umpire confirmed its legality in terms of height, leading to Kohli’s dismissal, with the DRS trajectory showing a fair delivery below the waistline.

Virat Kohli’s anger was at the next level in KKR vs RCB match

After the review, Virat Kohli was visibly bewildered by the turn of events and went on to have a heated exchange with the umpires, and even he was seen leaving the field with frustration. Even the RCB captain, Faf du Plessis, was seen engaging in an animated discussion with the on-field umpires at the Eden Gardens.

Kohli also slammed his gloves on his bat and was seen shaking his head on his way back to the pavilion during the KKR vs RCB match. Amid the numerous clips of the RCB star showing his frustration over the drama, another video is going viral on the internet this time, where the cricket world gets to see the unseen character of the former Indian skipper.

Kohli showed a fierce look in anger once he reached the dugout, as the dashing right-hander thrashed the dustbin near RCB’s camp in anger, and even his gloves were also falling while he was walking back to the dressing room. Virat’s avatar left everyone stunned, and now the clip is all over the internet.

Speaking about the KKR vs RCB match, Kolkata managed to post 222/6 in their allotted 20 overs, thanks to skipper Shreyas Iyer’s fifty and opener Phil Salt’s crucial 48 runs at Eden Gardens.

Apart from Iyer and Salt, Rinku Singh (24), Andre Russell (27*), and Ramandeep Singh (24*) also helped KKR post a challenging total on the board against the RCB in Kolkata on Sunday.

Chasing the target, the RCB had a poor start, especially thanks to Kohli’s controversial dismissal, but Will Jacks and Rajat Patidar’s half-centuries kept them alive in the match against the KKR. But Andre Russell bowled the match-defining 12th over, dismissing the well-settled Jacks and Patidar to shift the momentum to KKR.

However, Dinesh Karthik (25) and Karn Sharma (20) tried hard to take RCB over the line, but in the final over, Ramandeep Sing ran out Lockie Ferguson to save the match for KKR, as Bengaluru lost the match by a mere 1 run to the hosts in Kolkata

With the heartbreaking loss at Eden Gardens against the KKR, RCB’s hopes of making it to the IPL 2024 playoffs were badly dented, while KKR jumped to the second spot with 10 points in the standings.
