Press Releases

London’s controversial Ulez scheme has been slammed as an “absolute joke” after a father was left with an eye-watering five-figure set of fines for “driving his child to school”.

Footage at a protest against the scheme on Monday was posted online, which contained an interview with the man showing off his spread of unpaid charges – which he said he would “never” pay.

In the video, published by “MattHardyBladeRunner”, the cameraman can be heard congratulating the driver on his fines and asking the father how much his stack of papers are worth – to which he replies: “£30,000”.

The cameraman says: “£30,000 worth… This is what they think, Mr Khan, look at this.

“He’s brought a pile here, folks – he’s laying them out on the bonnet of his van for display… Ain’t paying, no way.”

The father, when asked what he has done to receive so many penalties, said: “I take my kid to school every day in the morning.”

The cameraman then slammed the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, saying: “You take your kid to school, and you’ve got all of these fines for taking your kid to school?

“So this is what Khan’s doing to Londoners, folks – man’s here, he’s brought it as a visual sign – look at this pile of letters, save the planet?

“Khan’s talking about green planet… Wonder how many trees he’s cut down, how many people have got a pile of letters like that at their house, folks?

“Do you know what I mean? Man’s here, all he’s done is take his kid to school and the government – our dictatorship – have bombarded him with this pile of letters.

“£30,000 worth of fines just to drive man’s kids to school – what an absolute joke… People are p****d off, that’s why he’s come down to the protest today.”

GB News has approached the Mayor of London for comment.
