'Parliament is NOT an advert for political slogans!' after River to the sea has been projected on Big Ben
Press Releases

Sir Malcolm Rifkin the former Foreign Secretary from 1995 to 1997 has slammed the protesters who projected the slogan “from the river to the sea” onto Big Ben.

Speaking to GB News he said: “My own personal view is, first of all, the police have to be allowed operational freedom.

“I think they made a mistake on this occasion, not just because of the river to the sea slogan. I think anybody attempting to put a slogan on the walls of Big Ben for political reasons, whatever the subject is, if the police have the means to stop them doing that, they should do that right away, regardless of the subject matter.

“That’s part of the building of parliament. It’s not there to advertise political slogans, whatever the subject.”
