Nigel Farage has slammed Boris Johnson as ‘fanatical’ and said that the former PM didn’t show any “belief in Brexit.”

He also revealed that he hasn’t spoken to Johnson in months and has “not received a Christmas card” from him.

There has been chatter that the former Ukip leader and the ex Prime Minister could be a a ‘dream ticket’ in a leadership tie-up but it seems unlikely after Farage confirmed that they have not spoken in a while.

Today on GBNews Farage said: “The similarities with Boris Johnson and myself is that we are not vanilla. We are not bland.

“We are not dull. That is where the similarities end though isn’t it, because politically his fanatical commitment to net zero, despite the horrific cost of it to manufacturing businesses, to ordinary households, I find very difficult.

“And frankly, even though Boris Johnson won an election in 2019 on the get Brexit done ticket, something that I helped him with, he didn’t as Prime Minister actually show that he really believed in it.

“So it is really difficult on the big politics to see how Boris and I could put up a united front. I’ve had lots of talkers say that it would be marvelous, but I think in policy terms a lot would have to change.”

When asked if had had any contact with Boris, Nigel said that he spoke to him ‘three months ago.’

He was then asked if he had received a Christmas card from Boris and Nigel said: “I have not as yet had a Christmas card from him.

“Or even a thank you for standing for standing aside 320 candidates in 2019.

“I regret Brexit’s not been implemented the way that I wanted it to be. But if I had stood against him and gone round the country and said the deal is rubbish, the danger was the Lib Dems would win 5060 Seventy seats.

“We’d finish up with them propping up a Jeremy Corbyn government, a second referendum and you know the rest. Can you imagine if Corbyn had been Prime Minister?

“Given the events in Israel and Gaza over the course of the last couple of months? It could have been absolutely dreadful.

“I made what I thought was the right decision at the time. I still believe it was. I just wish it had worked out rather better.”

Pip then asked Nigel about his thoughts on another former Labour leader’s latest move, as Tony Blair has paid visit to Israel, for talks with leader Benjamin Netanyahu.

Nigel criticised the visit, fuming: “I don’t see what credibility Tony Blair has in the Far East at all. We know that the Iraq war was pushed through Parliament by Blair, sold to the country on something that we subsequently learned to be a lie.”

“And we don’t mind our Prime Ministers risking the lives of British soldiers. We don’t mind our Prime Minister going to war, but tell us the truth, don’t lie to us.”
