Washington Freedom (WF) cricketer Glenn Phillips, known for his brilliant efforts on the field, took one of the best catches of the inaugural edition of the USA’s Major League Cricket (MLC) during the match against the San Francisco Unicorns (SFU) on Saturday, July 22 (local time).

The San Francisco Unicorns put up a total of 133 runs for the loss of eight wickets after opting to bat first at Church Street Park in Morrisville. Glenn Phillips failed to make an impact with the bat in the match. The right-handed batter was dismissed for a duck by Haris Rauf.

The incident took place in the third over of San Francisco’s innings. Finn Allen attempted a lofted shot off the second delivery from Anrich Nortje’s bowling. However, Allen mistimed the shot, and the ball went towards the third man. Glenn Phillips judged it well and completed a diving catch.

The Aaron Finch-led team lost momentum and kept losing wickets at regular intervals, eventually losing the match by 30 runs. The left-arm pacer Saurabh Netravalkar was the standout performer for the Freedom team with the ball, picking up six wickets and conceding just nine runs in 3.5 overs.
