Legendary batter Brian Lara was impressed with young batters Ishan Kishan and Shubaman Gill’s batting in the third ODI match between India and the West Indies. Brian Lara expressed admiration for India’s pool of talented young cricketers and said that they can field three different teams at the same time.

Ishan Kishan and Shubman Gill had a brief chat with Brian Lara at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Tarouba. Kishan shared that he received a message from Lara on Instagram, and the gesture remains unforgettable. Gill said that the former Windies skipper motivated him to dominate bowlers.

India Is Like A Second Home To Me – Brian Lara

In a video shared by the BCCI on its social media handle, Brian Lara expressed that India has been like a second home to him.

“Well, India is like a second home to me. Looking at young promising cricketers in India, it is something that I’ve grown up doing,” Lara said.

“And just to see the talent here with this Indian team and so many different teams that they have at the moment, they can pick a second XI and even a third XI. Just to see these guys on this international stage here at the academy, I feel very, very proud,” he added.

India Outplayed West Indies In Series Decider

Earlier, the Hardik Pandya-led team put up a total of 351 runs. Ishan Kishan (77) and Shubman Gill (85) added 143 runs in the opening partnership. Ruturaj Gaikwad, who played his first match in the series, failed to make the most of the opportunity and was dismissed for just 8 runs.

The West Indies were bowled out for just 151 runs in the series decider. Mukesh Kumar picked up three early wickets. Shardul Thakur registered his career-best figures of 4/37 in 6.3 overs. Shubman Gill was awarded Player of the Match, while Ishan Kishan was named Player of the Series.
