This is GBN America, the first of a series of broadcasts I’m going to do between now and November next year, when, of course, there’s going to be the next presidential election.
Why, you might ask, is a Brit so involved with American current affairs and politics?
Well, ever since I was 18, our relationship with America and my relationship with America has dominated my adult life.
I began at 18 working for a big Wall Street company. I then moved on and worked for a big firm of commodity traders from Chicago.

I kind of in the 90s was almost like a cross Atlantic commuter going to New York, Chicago at least once every month.
I feel culturally our two countries are closer today than they’ve ever been.
And if you look at art, literature, music, clothing, trends of all kinds, we tend to follow America. Politically, though in 2016 America followed us.
We voted Brexit and they then voted for President Trump, and it was part of the same wave.
And it was that and getting involved with doing broadcast for Fox News from about 2012 onwards and other American media that I got very involved in that 2016 presidential campaign.
And look, hands up, clean confession. I’m a friend of Donald J Trump. I enjoy visiting him at Mar-a-Lago or up in Turnberry or wherever it may be.
I absolutely want him to win this next presidential election. I think for the safety of the Western world, we need him.
Yeah, sure, his out there, New Yorker style isn’t necessarily for everybody, but I’ll tell you what, I believe he gets the big calls right.
