England will play a three-match Test series against Pakistan, starting at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, Rawalpindi, on December 1, with the remaining two matches to be played in Multan and Karachi. For the first time in 17 years, England will play a Test match on Pakistan soil. They last toured Pakistan in 2005, when they were defeated 2-0.

Ahead of the Test series, England played a seven-match T20i series against the hosts in September–October in preparation for the ICC T20 World Cup. The Moeen Ali-led team won the T20I series against Babar Azam’s team by 4-3. After the Mega Tournament in Australia, England will return to Pakistan for a three-match Test series.

According to the Dawn, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed that England’s three-match Test series in Pakistan next month is set to be held as per schedule, according to sources close to the Pakistan Cricket Board.

Fears were raised about the three-match Test series later this month in the wake of an assassination attempt on former Pakistan prime minister and former national cricket team captain Imran Khan, who was shot in the leg at a protest rally near Lahore.

It’s worth mentioning that England cancelled their tour of Pakistan last year after New Zealand pulled out halfway through. Both teams cited security concerns as the reason for their choice. However, the Three Lions recently toured Pakistan for a seven-match T20I series.

For a long time, international teams avoided travelling to Pakistan after a 2009 militant attack on the Sri Lankan team bus in Lahore killed six police officers and two civilians. However, the arrival of England and Australia in 2022 has significantly improved Pakistan’s home cricket hopes.

England will face Pakistan in the final on Sunday, November 13 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground and will be hoping to take revenge for their 1992 ODI World Cup final defeat at the same venue.
