Star India National Cricket Team fast-bowling all-rounder Shardul Thakur has been traded from Delhi Capitals (DC) to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 auction. The trade is an all-cash deal, as per a report in ESPNcricinfo.
All-rounder Shardul Thakur, who is currently in New Zealand as part of India’s ODI squad, was bought by the Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 mega auction for a whopping INR 10.75 crore.

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 player auction, which will be a mini-auction, will be held on December 23 in Kochi. After the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 mega auction, Delhi Capitals had INR 0.10 crore left in their purse and Kolkata Knight Riders had INR 0.45 crore left in their purse.
Meanwhile, in addition to the money left over from the Indian Premier League 2022 mega auction, each team will have an additional INR 5 crore to spend at the Indian Premier League 2023 auction. This will lead to the teams having a purse of INR 95 crore.
Shardul Thakur has become the third player to be traded to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 auction after pacer Lockie Ferguson and wicketkeeper-batter Rahmanullah Gurbaz.
“New Zealand fast bowler Lockie Ferguson has been traded from Gujarat Titans to Kolkata Knight Riders for the upcoming TATA IPL 2023.
“He played 13 matches for Gujarat Titans and picked 12 wickets that included a 4-wicket haul. Kolkata Knight Riders have also traded Afghanistan wicketkeeper-batter Rahmanullah Gurbaz from Gujarat Titans,” IPL said in an official media release.
Talking further about Shardul Thakur, in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022, the all-rounder scored 120 runs in 14 games at an average of 15.00 and a strike rate of 137.93. With the ball, he bagged 15 wickets at an average of 31.53 an economy of 9.79 and a strike rate of 19.33.
