Conservative MP Jonathan Gullis entered into a heated debate with author and broadcaster Amy Nickell-Turner after police in Brussels ordered the National Conservative conference to be shut down. Senior Labour MPs have since been slammed after they were seen mocking the scenes in Brussels.
Speaking to Patrick Christys on GB News, Amy said: “I think what they were finding funny is that Suella Braverman is the elected MP for Fareham. Today, quite an important bill going through the House of Commons and she was off hosting a load of European nationalists, which is what they are.
“So if we talk about some of the speakers at the event. You said they just have different views, right? There’s one that’s been investigated for far-right extremism.
“There’s another that said the Christchurch shooter had legitimate concerns when he entered the mosque and opened fire. There are climate deniers, there are Putin sympathisers.
“It’s a circus of conspiracy theories and misinformation, which is a threat to democracy rather than policing this event.” Jonathan Gullis argued: “You’ve got a democratically elected senator, JD Vance, who is certainly not far-right.
“He’s just an old-fashioned Republican who believes in America. You’ve got Suella Braverman, who is a former home secretary, a democratically elected politician in this country.
“Nigel Farage, who was one of the leading members of the European Parliament. I think, one of the most influential figures in British politics, essentially leading to the referendum that we had in 2016 I find it quite odd that we don’t allow people to just have different views within conservatism.
“The Conservative Party, we are a broad church. I have differing views from some of my parliamentary colleagues on certain aspects and certain things.
“With all the things there’s give and there’s take.
“The public should be allowed to hear a wide variety of views and allow themselves to come up with their own conclusions as to what they like and dislike at the end of the day.”
