Speaking just after the Supreme Court’s ruling on the Government’s Rwanda policy today, Jenkyns said: “I’m not surprised, are you?
“And especially because of how they ruled last time I think it demonstrates, if anything, how Suella was right in her letter. We need to do these quite drastic measures. Actually, we need to come out of the ECHR to deliver on our manifesto.”
In an interesting insight into Suella Braverman’s devastating letter Jenkyns revealed how the former Home Secretary would be feeling ‘relieved’ to be out from under the rule of Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.
The MP said: “I think good on her. She’s a brave lady.
I think it’s quite enlightening for as backbenchers actually the fact that how she, in her backing Rishi, she had this agreement of what she wanted to do in the Home Office and and that included in her letter it says about coming out of the ECHR.
“So I think good on her, she’s probably relieved now to be out of it actually.”
